Free Boiler Grants for Pensioners: A Guide to the Government Eco Scheme

Did you know that pensioners can get a free boiler grant under the Government’s Energy Company Obligation? Check your eligibility here at Free Boiler Grants for Pensioners. A new gas boiler typically costs roughly £2,300, which can be a significant expense for retirees and low-income homes. However, due to the Government’s boiler grant scheme, if your current boiler is broken or inefficient and fulfils the qualifying conditions, you may be eligible for a free boiler replacement grant. If you’re a retiree who owns your house (private tenants cannot now apply for a boiler grant) and receives Pension Guarantee Credit or other qualified benefits. You may be eligible to apply for a free boiler grant to help cover the cost of upgrading your gas boiler. The grant may mean the new boiler installation is completely free. The boiler grant is always free, so you will never have to repay it.

What is the Energy Company’s Obligation?

The Government’s Energy Company Obligation, or ECO scheme, requires the UK’s six largest energy suppliers to assist us in improving the energy efficiency of our homes by lowering heating costs and carbon emissions.  At Free Boiler Grants, we give boiler replacements to seniors around the UK. The government-backed boiler payments for retirees are offered by the ‘Big Six’ energy suppliers—Scottish Power, British Gas, AEON, EDF, SSE, and Power—as part of their commitment to reducing carbon emissions in private households. Over the last few years, we have supplied thousands of homes, including free boiler replacement for retirees throughout the UK. This assists them in lowering their heating expenses and reducing their total carbon footprint, which offers significant financial benefits for seniors as well as a positive influence on the environment.

How To Qualify for Free Boiler Replacement Grants For Pensioners?

Many elderly individuals are struggling with rising energy bills. For those on low incomes, a new boiler can be an unaffordable investment. Pensioners receiving Pension Guarantee Credit or Working Tax Credit may qualify for a boiler subsidy. This subsidy can help improve energy efficiency and lower heating bills. If you don’t receive Pension Guarantee Credit, you may still be eligible. You can qualify if you receive Working Tax Credit or another qualified benefit. To apply for a free boiler grant, your boiler must be old, inefficient, or broken. You also need to meet one of these conditions:

  • You own your home
  • You live in social housing (Note: We currently cannot handle these applications. Please consult the Energy Saving Guidance Service for assistance).
  • You have received Pension Guarantee Credit
  • You are 60 years or older and receive the Working Tax Credit
